Grounding Sheets: real or fake?

The quality of the conductive thread, whether silver yarn, carbon or stainless steel, is what makes or breaks a grounding sheet. Sadly, this is exactly where many manufacturers take a shortcut to save money, not to protect your health or give you a sheet that lasts.

Grounding is going mainstream, and that is good news.

More brands and lower prices mean more people can finally try it. But there is a catch. Search for a grounding sheet on a cheap marketplace and you will find dozens of near-identical listings, with polished photos, bold silver claims and smart marketing that tells you nothing about who actually makes the product. A company address is often nowhere to be found.

We tested a number of these sheets, and the results surprised us. Almost all grounding sheets measured far above the resistance a working grounding sheet should give. The difference comes down to one thing: the quality of the silver yarn.

We are glad the market is growing. But we are worried that poor quality will give Grounding a bad name. This page helps you stay aware, backed by our own measurements.

Our test results

First a Visual Check

As an example:

Our American colleagues at Grounding of Sweden™ (AK Global Commerce LLC), who dropship in the EU from China with a German return address, claim that their sheet has 25% silver yarn. Have a look.
Our basic sheet on the left has 5% silver yarn (we also have a 100% sheet). The 'Swedish' (US-DE) sheet on the right, already visually, has thinner silver yarn (less conductivity) and a significantly smaller thread count…
25% silver claim with a 2-year guarantee?… 🤔

To name just (a blatant) one ...

Then we measured ...

The Aarding® sheet measures a low resistance of 18.59 kOhm.
So more of Earth's healing electrons can reach you.

The Grounding of Sweden™ sheet measures a high resistance of 126.4 kOhm.
So fewer of Earth's healing electrons can reach you.

Measurement method and conditions

  • We compared an Aarding® sheet with silver yarn and organic cotton with, among others, a Grounding of Sweden™ sheet with its silver yarn and cotton.
  • Both fabrics were new, unwashed and unused.
  • Resistance was measured using a high-accuracy (1 mV) Multimeter, with equal electrode spacing, contact area and weight.
  • Both fabrics were equally dry and tested under the same conditions.
  • We tested with 10 readings per fabric at various locations and got the same results with a faulty margin of maximum 2 kOhm.

The Secret?

Pure silver yarn

The heart of every Aarding® grounding sheet lies in a thread you can't feel. Each fibre of our yarn is coated with a layer of 99.99% pure silver, the most conductive metal on earth, even more so than copper. Wherever your skin touches the sheet, you enjoy a reliable connection to the earth.

Beneath the silver lies a strong, supple core. It gives the yarn its strength and keeps the silver firmly in place, night after night and wash after wash. Your sheet stays soft and, with proper care, continues to conduct well for years.

  • Maximum conductivity: pure silver leaves no room for compromise or weak spots.
  • Naturally fresh: silver is known for its antibacterial properties, so odours have less chance.
  • Built to last: the strong core protects the yarn against wear from daily use and washing.
  • Easy to verify: a simple conductivity tester shows you instantly that your sheet does what it promises.

You spend seven to eight hours on your grounding sheet every night. That is why we didn't choose the cheapest material, but the best.
